    Can I remove "state/province" list??

    Is it possible to remove the "select state/province if applicable" drop down list from the checkout page completely?

    Although we have USA and Canada on the country list, we very rarely get orders from there so I would prefer not to have that list and people to enter it into the address fields manually. This will make it a bit simpler for non-US customers, as some people get confused by it!! )

    If you just remove the 'North AMerica' shipping zone from 'Business Settings | Shipping and Handling' you will achieve this.

    US and Canadian customers can then just pick the 'None of the Above' delivery option and then manually enter their country on the next page.

      Hmmmm, it didn't work. It's at the "Select Invoice Location" and "Select Shipping Destination" parts that it appears.

        Go into 'Business Settings | Tax'. Do you have a tax zone with either 'United States' or 'Canada' in it? If so, then edit that zone and remove all the states and provines from within the United States and Canada by clicking the '>' button.

        Do the same in 'Shipping and Handling' . Find any zones contining the 'United States' and 'Canada', edit the zone and then remove all the states and provinces with the '>' button.

          No, for tax I only have it set up for UK and EU, so there is no US setting in there anyway and we don't charge extra for shipping and handling so it's not in there either.

          It appears because I have US and Canada in the "Payment & Security" section, but if I remove them from there then North American customers won't be able to order at all.

          Is there a way of removing that dialog from the templates or something?

            OK then - remove the states from the United States and Canada countries in the 'Payment and Security' tab.

              "State/Province:" is required.

              My hosting provider switched servers and now customers cannot check out. I get this error when checking out:

              "State/Province:" is required.

              There is no way to change the State from the previous screen, however. I have tried to refresh the web site but the error still occurs. I am able to download orders and I seem to be able to get into the web site.

                It's already done like that. There are no states shown under US or Canada in the "Valid Regions and locations" box.

                Never mind, I guess we'll have to live with it if there isn't an easy way around it.

                  As a final suggestion - go to 'Advanced | Locations' and remove all the States from within the United States and Canada in there.
