Confused on TAX and COUNTRIES

I have tried many times to get the USA tax settings correct on Catalog V6.

I wish only to sell to the USA and Canada. Florida is the only state I need to apply 6% sales tax to.
Problem is the tax is added on the invoice no matter which state is entered. I need to know what all the correct settings should be to get this to work right. Where am I going wrong?

Another issue, when viewing the invoice when selecting the COUNTRY I only get USA appear but I want CANADA too. When SHIPPING DESTINATION is selected I get USA, CANADA & NONE OF THE ABOVE. I don't want NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Anyone with the 'know-how' kind enough help. Much appreciated.

I'm in the same situation except I'm in Maryland. I created a Maryland tax zone and a No tax levied zone. I had no problem.

To delete the None of the above, click Advanced->Locations and delete the None of the above country at the bottom of the list.

OK. I take it in 'Business Settings | Tax' you are using 'Advanced' tax and you have your Sales Tax set up with the correct rate at the top of the dialog.

If so, then remove all existing tax zones from the 'Tax Zones' dialogue (apart from 'No Taxes Levied') and then click 'Add Zone'.. Call it Florida, and then in the right-hand window select 'Florida' from within 'United States' and click the '<' button.

Click'OK' and then click the 'Default Tax Zone' box. Then, at the bottom of the dialog select 'Sales Tax' in the 'Taxies Levied for Florida Zone' area.

Click 'OK' in Business Settings and a warning will come up about adding all the other US tax zones in the 'No Tax Levied' tax zone. Agree to this.

If you want Canada in the 'Invoice Address' drop down then add Canada to the 'No taxes levied' zone in 'Business Settings | Tax'. When you are doing this, if you remove all the provinces from within Canada (with the '>' button) then they will not appear in the 'State/Provinces' drop-down list on the site.

Also in the 'Tax' tab you can tick the box that says 'Do not allow None of the Above as a Zone Member'.

I think this will take care of your issues.
