    Error message after changing computer

    Hi,
I was running Actinic Catalog 7 on my old XP computer with no problems.
My computer was getting rather slow so I purchased a new one with Vista installed.
I've installed Actinic on my new computer and installed the patches so it now works on Vista.
I've imported the snap shot from the old xp computer and uploaded it to the internet and the website views and functions fine.
However, when I try to download any orders I get the following error message:

"The server scripts are incompatible with this version of Actinic, Refresh the web site.

If order processing is split from the web site maintenance then the thwo copies of Actinic must be upgraded to the same version.

If this error persists, copy the perl scripts from the original subdirectory and try again.

Server version = "7 GBGA". Client version = "7 HCFA"."

Does anyone have any advice on how I can rectify this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the scripts need upgrading. Have you done what it says "copy the perl scripts from the original subdirectory" ?

If you have made any perl mods they will get overwritten so make sure you have good backups.

Run Actinic and do Help / About on both computers to see what versions you were and are now running. Then report back.

I suspect from what you say you have hit the update website button as you normally do but by installing the vista updates you will have an updated version of the software - you need to do as the error message says ie REFRESH the website as this will update the version of the server which a normal update website will not do.

If this fails you will need to do a purge and refresh which is found under help.

This has been covered before on the forum so you will be able to find out more about it.

            Hi,

            Thanks for the replies.

            Here are the version numbers:
            Old XP computer: 706000GBFA
            New Vista computer: 707000HCFA

I'm a bit of a novice and I'm a little worried about carrying out a purge and refresh through the troubshooting section of the actinic help. The developer I used altered some of the perl files. Although I could always copy them from old computer after the purge?

            Thanks in advance.

No - you cannot do this as the upgrade may have updated the files and you copying them back could trash the site. You may be best contacting someone to do it for you or contacting the original developer as they will know what they have done.

Just as an update. I've just tried to do a website purge/refresh but I get exactly the same error message as I did on the original post.

                Regards,

There only seems to be the following two check boxes available.

Delete Perl files and restore from original folder

                    and

                    Delete .cat and .fil files

There doesn't appear to be a third check box

                      Gary,

If you go into 'Web | Network Setup' and run a test, does it pass? If the test passes, and the 'Purge and Refresh' you mentioned, went through without a hitch, then I would check on the server to see if the 'acatalog' and 'cgi-bin' folders have the adequate permissions, '777' and '755' respectively.

If all the above is correct ...
                      1. Manually FTP to your server

                      2. Delete all the .pl and .pm files within your /cgi-bin/ folder

                      3. Delete all the .cat and .fil files within your /acatalog/ folder

                      4. On your local PC, please go to your 'Site1' folder

                      5. Delete all the .pl and .pm and .cat and .fil files here as well

                      6. Go to the folder 'C:\Program Files\Actinic v7\Original' and copy the .pl and .pm and paste them back into your Site1 folder

Now go to 'Web' and select 'Refresh website'.

Let us know if this helps.

                      Kind regards,

The only other reason for this error would be down to you having v7.0.6 orders on the server that you are trying to download into 7.0.7. Did you suspend orders and then wait half an hour, download orders into v7.0.6, then create a snapshot and import it into v7.0.7?

A link to the site would be useful.

                        Kind regards,

Thanks for the reply Bruce. I'll have a word with my developer tomorrow.

I was cautious about providing a link to the website as I didn't want to come across as just wanting to get some free advertising.

But since you asked, here it is: www.tynedalefarmtoys.co.uk

They are the ones that should be helping you sort this out. I see they have been playing with the acatalog file name - usually this means they have altered the network setting etc so this I suspect is the cause of your problem.

I also see that your page title tags are not working correctly either.
