    PHP 5 and actinic 7

    Hi
Fasthosts are just upgrading the two servers I have V7 actinic sites on from PHP 4 to PHP 5. Will this make any problems for the sites? And if so, are there any workarounds?

    Thanks

    Julia

This will have no effect on your sites as Actinic doesn't use PHP on the server.

Actinic used the Perl programming language to do it's server side scripting, so you may also want to check that this isn't being updated too.

P.S. Fasthosts are doing the right thing here. PHP4 came to end of life at the new year and PHP5 is now the recommended production version.

1 and 1 have also been upgrading and I can confirm there has been no effect at all on any of my sites.

          Can't upload after upgrade!

          Hi

Fasthosts upgraded the server for meadowshealthandsafety.com from php4 to php5 last night. We then received calls from customers who could not get to the payment stage with their order so have tried to refresh the website.

It won't upload, continuous ftp timeout errors, and you now can't access any of the product pages.

          Help please!

          Regards

          Ruth

FTP to the site and check folder permissions on acatalog and cgi-bin. They may have been reset.

Once you have done that, try a full website refresh.

              importing snapshot fatal error

Thanks Bill, they appear to be fine, set to 755.

Subsequently every time the client tried to do an upload or refresh their actinic was crashing so I asked them to take a snapshot and send it to me. That failed, with fatal errors so I asked them to import the last snapshot they had from when the site was working and they can't import it, they're getting 1 fatal error which says "The selected file does not contain a Site Group - it contains a user selected import."

They're on version 7 (soon to upgrade to v8). I've got the same snapshot and it imports perfectly ok on my pc.

              Any ideas what's causing this?

              Regards
