    Actinic Crashed - Products Now Missing

    Hi Everyone.

    About an hour ago while I was putting new products onto actinic it crashed and I had to shut it down and restart it. (this happens alot) However after I have restarted it I have looked at my produst and I am missing all of my Mens Products!!!! We sell mens and ladies clothing and all the womens are there and fine but all the mens have gone! The fragments are still there to link to the products but no products to link too! Help Please!

    The other problem is that we havent done a backup for weeks and weeks!

    Any help would be great because we have got loads of new stock still to go on but if I update then I am going to lose everything!!

    Is there any way of exporting from the site?

    Snapshots are youre best protection against this!

    There is no way to get the info from the live site without doing it by hand.

    have you tried restarting the pc?

    If you have a databse backup then that my help.

    Lots of things to try but difficult at this end

      We havent done any backups of the databases or anything!

      Restarting the computer hasnt made any difference!

      Any more help would be great!

          well you've learnt the hard way that you should take notice of what the computer is telling you.

          Without a snapshot or DB backup you will have to rebuild by hand, and of course when you do this remember to take regular snapshots and backup to a 3rd location (CD, pendrive, offline etc etc etc.)

            Don't upload til you've copied it all off the live site, if you do you will have two self-provided bruises on your forehead instead of one.

              right I have just tried going to - housekeeping - backup - recover database.

              Then selected a version that was today at 2:00pm.

              While actinic was running this process I had a error saying a file was unable to be located (shipping.mdb or something like that)

              Now when I try and open actinic it comes up with this error:




              Your system isn't configured correctly and Actinic cannot function. This is normally caused by the database components currently installed, and is acknowledged by Microsoft as a problem (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/te...edistmdac.htm).

              In most cases it can be corrected by installing the latest copy (at least version 2.1.2.4202.3) of "Microsoft Data Access Components" or "MDAC" which can be downloaded from Microsoft. MDAC 2.6 is also supplied on the on Catalog install CD. If need to download it from Microsoft, click on the first link below to open your browser at the relevant page, and then follow the appropriate links.

              After installing the new version of MDAC you may have to uninstall and then reinstall Actinic to obtain full functionality.

              I have followed the link and downloaded the update but the same error keeps coming up!

                  did you take a snapshot before you did the restore - if so, re-import it.

                    Right we have managed to get actinic working again the database that we tried to restore to was corrupt so we have had to put the old one back in.

                    However we were unable to find the products we have lost.

                    It seems very strange that its only the products that have lost, none of the fragments linking to the products have gone!

                    Anyway, thanks for all the help. Busy day/week ahead putting the site back together!!
