preventing se's from indexin checkout and basket pages

hi,

i want to prevent se's from indexing the checkout and basket pages.
What is the best way to do this?

i know i can use the meta tags usually, but how do i ammend these pages in in particular. Or should i just use the robots file.

Depends on whether you use cgi-bin based navigation at all, if not i would just stop all access to the cgi-bin folder as there is very little of any worth in there for a SE.

at present i am using cgi based urls. is this a problem? should i still block the viewing of cgi-urls and just put links for these urls elsewhere on the page, like footer etc?

i dont think the se's actually pick up by cgi based urls. im not ranked for any of them.

yes if you use cgi URLs you do not want to block SEs from the cgi-bin
