    VAT on Shipping

    Hi
Today we have to charge VAT but I have a problem with shipping.
We have 2 forms of shipping
    1) Post office Charges - Exempt form VAT (on Custom & Excise advise)
    2) Courier charges - Standard rate VAT

I have actinic V7. When I go to Business Settings, shipping and Handling I can only select 1 VAT choice. This is then applied to both Post Office charges and Courier charges.
Is there any way of putting 2 VAT options on Shipping and Handling to resolve this problem

    Many thanks

If you are VAT registered, you have to charge VAT on the postage costs as it is a service you are providing. Makes no difference at all whether you have been charged VAT or not.

get a second opinion...and/or get the person who gave you this advice to show you IN WRITING exactly where it says this because, IMO and in a whole lot of other people's opinions (including HMCE) this is INCORRECT advice.

If you Google the forum for threads about VAT on shipping/postage, I'm fairly sure there are links and full details about this on here somewhere
