Actinic with E-Clear - not integrated well...

I have just set up my website with e-clear and apart from all the tests I've tried coming back with the error "Reason Not Authorised (EX)", I have a few gripes/questions -

    1) During checkout actinic asks for a payment type ("please select"), but the payment type only has the option of "e-clear" which can't be changed by the user. This seems pretty pointless and potentially confusing ("e-clear? I don't know what an e-clear is - is that like e-gold? why can't I use my visa...? "). Is there anyway of getting round this?

    2) After pressing next from this screen there is another pointless screen - "press next to go to the e-clear screen...", anyway of skipping this? (or changing the wording?)

    3) When the error code comes back "not authorised" there is no button to return to my checkout. The user is just left sat there looking at the error with nowhere to go... is there a way round this?

    4) the e-clear screen doesn't tell the user (or me) what cards are acceptable (amex? switch?), I suppose this means I need to edit one of the preceeding screens to make this obvious?

Does anyone happen to know what the "Reason Not Authorised (EX)" message means (ie. why?) as the e-clear site doesn't have *any* technical support info as far as I can tell...

I realise some of this is eclear rather than actinic, but I'm hoping someone else has been there before me and had all the same problems...

    and another thing...

it doesn't seem to copy the full address details from actinic to the eclear screen. It copies accross the name, email, 1st line address, and phone - but not country, county, or town...???

      E-clear intergration

      Hi there,

Below I have answered your question as best to my knowledge,

      1) During checkout actinic asks for a payment type ("please select"), but the payment type only has the option of "e-clear" which can't be changed by the user. This seems pretty pointless and potentially confusing ("e-clear? I don't know what an e-clear is - is that like e-gold? why can't I use my visa...? "). Is there anyway of getting round this?

I am sorry to say but the 'payment method' drop down cannot be changed at the moment as this is the way Actinic has been desinged. I guess to explain what 'e-clear' is you can maybe have a message embedded within the 'Order04.html' template (Advance | Template Manager | Ordering | OrderPhase4).

      2) After pressing next from this screen there is another pointless screen - "press next to go to the e-clear screen...", anyway of skipping this? (or changing the wording?)

This screen is not pointless as this is part of a stage in processing the payment information from Actinic store to the E-clear servers capturing all relevant information. However, the message can be changed by going editing the template that can be found in the 'CommonOCC' folder within 'site1' the template is called Act_OCCEclearTemplate.html

      3) When the error code comes back "not authorised" there is no button to return to my checkout. The user is just left sat there looking at the error with nowhere to go... is there a way round this?

I have tested e-clear using Actinic and have the same problem, I guess this is another question to be answered by 'e-clear'.

      4) the e-clear screen doesn't tell the user (or me) what cards are acceptable (amex? switch?), I suppose this means I need to edit one of the preceeding screens to make this obvious?

I believe generally PSP accept all types of card, however you may want to find out if you can edit the PSP page to input images of or text showing the cards that are accepted.

If this is not possible to customise the E-clear payment page, again you may want to include this in 'Order04.html'

Does anyone happen to know what the "Reason Not Authorised (EX)" message means (ie. why?) as the e-clear site doesn't have *any* technical support info as far as I can tell...

      I have no idea, sorry.

      Hope this helps.
      Thank You

You can change the e-clear text in view | business settings | payment and security, just change the text in the website description field.

          Excellent, thanks Jan.

ok, it may do something from a technical point of view, but from a customer point of view it does nothing, other than make them think my site is badly designed. Instead of just taking them from A to B, it takes them from A to a message which tells them they are about to be taken to B when they press 'next'... It doesn't ask for any information and doesn't tell them anything useful.

Can't the payment processing information transfer be done when next is clicked on the previous page? I guess you will tell me that this is just the way actinic works - but are there any plans to change it?

Menar - going OT for a moment, did you ever work at Xerox in El Segundo?

We would really like to change it - but it quite a fundamental piece of coding that would affect all our PSP-integrations (yikes). It will happen, but not in the near future.
