Junk mail through my contact page ...

    Hi,

I received Junk Mail through my contact page.

Has this happened to anyone else? I did read a huge thread on contact form spam, so it must have, and mods to perl scripts and stuff, but when i tried the recommended work around my mail stopped altogether.

    http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=23313

Got the impression no fix for V7.... do we have a problem on V7?

(Apologies if this is a bit of duplication, didn't get a response hanging on the end of a 60+ postded thread.... as you can imagine)

    Thanks, Simon.

There is a solution in the Advanced User Guide page 30.

I assume you mean the "Use an E-Mail Link that is Invisible to Spammers", page 47 in my older AUG V7, I don't mean this.

I mean the "Contact Form", (which I would presume is not an option type thingy usually found in the AUG?)

No.... my Contact Form is being found and text is getting entered into it and the submit button being triggered...... another good scripter out there has targeted Actinic... and why not?

As I stated, I tried the fix in the big thread on this and my mail would not work at all, and I got the impression that a V7 fix was a bit "al dente" to say the least, but someone must have it pinned down?

Any pinned down help appreciated, Simon.

Maybe you can adapt a capcha for v7 - I would expect so - it's only a form.
Have a search across all the forums for capcha - I remember Gabriel posting a good capcha thread a while ago.

personally i use the php/captcha form mail at dagondesign

don't forget you can not stop people manually entering junk through your contact form - just like we had a spammer on the loose in this forum on saturday -what makes ỳou think iyour form has been hijacked?

I'll have look..... iIf someone tells me I can 'enlarge my bits for longer', again using my bandwidth for the privilege I'll go spare.

            Thanks, both.

Membership only store - will this work?

              Hi,

I'm contemplating a store which would be members only, with a subscription fee to become a member, and just wondering how I might implement this in actinic.

I thinking this might work -
              1. Add all my products, but untick the 'product visible' for the default customer group
              2. add a single product called '12 months membership" which is visable to all
              3. The user goes to the site, can only see the subscription product, adds it to the cart, buys in the normal way
              4. I then use the details from that order to create a customer account, and add them to the members group
              5. They then log in using these details and can now see all products (except the membership which I could make invisible to this group as they already purchased it.

Firstly, would this work? Or are there any obvious problems I haven't thought of?

Secondly, would any of these improvements be feasible -
              • All products are visible to all - but you can't actually buy unless you're logged in as a member?
              • Add a recurring annual fee option as well as a one off payment - not sure how I would implement this but think it is possible (I can use secure trading or protx for payments)

I think the first part would work as you mentioned. I also think that it would be a good idea to show your products without prices etc for non-members but this depends oin your motivation etc for wanting to do this. You may also consider how you want (or not want) the site indexed by the SEs.

(PS You may want to start new thread for this topic)
