Discounts not working...

Hi all,

I have a V7 site which has a number of different discounts running on it, most without any issues.

All products are priced at either £10 or £6 and are in 1 group.

I have a 4 for 3 discount which is set to discount 100% off the cheapest product and multiple discounts can be applied to a basket.

Problem I have is that it doesn't choose the cheapest product, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and I cannot see any pattern to this.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Hi Ruth,

I think it is probably working correctly. Take the following scenario:

Say a shop sells TVs and has a "buy any two products get the cheapest free" style offer. You go in and buy a £500 TV, a £400 TV and an aerial lead
£1.

1. Shopper adds £400 TV to cart. Cart total £400.

2. Shopper then adds £500 TV to cart. Cart total now £500 (as he gets
the £400 one free).

3. Shopper then adds aerial lead to cart. Cart total now £900 (as he now
gets the £1 aerial lead free).

So by adding a £1 aerial lead to the cart he gets charged an extra £400.
I don't think many shoppers would find that acceptable and would place two orders to ensure getting the larger discount.

It's a standard buy x items and get the cheapest free type offer but it works so that it gives a sensible shopping experience to the shopper.
