    Xara webstyle

    Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has used Xara webstyle to create NavBars? While I think Nortree is an excellent product I'd like to keep the Xara themes. Just curious as to peoples experiences with implementing it site wide. I'm probably only going to use it on the brochure pages because I'm too much of a dope to know how to put it on all pages!!

    Cheers,

    Hi Jacy

I'm not familiar with Xara, but if you want to put navbars on the brochure pages, the template is the BrochurePrimary template, and if you want to include it in the catalog pages, it's the Primary template or Header template depending on the theme and where you want to position it.

      Hi Ben,
I'm using clean layout 14 with scroll bars down both sides. I would like to place the navbar down the left hand side of each page. Xara creates the navbar and uses java. when i saved the navbar I'm creating there is a file with the *.js extention and a lot of *.gif files. It also lets you enter the url for each button of the navbar.

      Cheers,

      Jacy

In this case, you would need to:
        - add the .js files to Advanced | Additional Files
        - include a reference to them in the Primary and BrochurePrimary templates between the <head> tags (Actinic has references to it's own .js files which can be used as examples)
        - add the images and code to the table cell in the template where you want the navbar to appear.

          Hi Ben,
After compiling the navbar etc, I did a browser preview and it was going to take 20 secs to load!!! I'm sticking to Nortree which loads in a flash

          Cheers,

          Jacy

I've recently (a day or so ago) posted updates to NorTree that should increase it's efficiency quite dramatically. Details on www.rouxel.cwc.net/actinicstuff.html and follow the link to NorTree.

I've also implemented a similar interface to another menu system. This ones from New Zealand and is a bit more modern. Search the V6 Forum for NorCascade and you'll find it.

              Hi Norman,
I did see all the posts relating to Norcascade but not having any GUI I'll stick to Nortree for now
