    Sales reports counting 'free' products

I have a site with a new 'buy 10 tapes get a free printer' offer. I'm just looking at the sales reports and they seem to be counting the 'free' products as sold.

So if the 10 tapes total £100 and the customer gets a £70 printer free then it seems to show in the sales as

    10 tapes @ £10/each = £100
    1 printer @ £70 = £70

    total sales = £170

but I've only actually made a sale for £100 so all the sales figures are wrong...

If there a way to fix this? Obviously that approach is not helpful if I use these figures for my VAT return!

    Hi John,

I've just tested this on one order that I did (10 calculators and get a pair of scissors free). The Sales Analysis report shows the correct sales figures in the summary (e.g. it doesn't include the free product). Does your summary show the incorrect figure?

Yes, I've done some tests and it looks like the totals are worked out correctly - it was just the items being counted in the list that confused me.

      So it appears as -

      Products sold
      10 tapes @ £10/each = £100
      1 printer @ £70 = £70

      Total sales £100

I've got a similar drama with inaccurate reports. We do a multisave type offer so single units cost £18 each but you can get 3 for £45. When I do my sales report it calculates that each item was sold a full price! again I use this for VAT returns so any help would be supercool

Have you checked if the sums at the top are correct or not? That's the problem I had, I was looking at the sales list by item which seemed inaccurate, but it turns out the discounts had been included in the totals at the top.

There is also a Tax report available in Actinic that will detail VAT received over a certain period. I don't know if this would be a better thing to use to do your VAT return.

              Regards,
