    Server error, help please??

Each time I try to upload or download on my shopping site I get the following error message. My web host is at a loss and doesnt know whats happened, actinic say it's the web host and not them. I have also contacted our bod who runs our network server and he sais it has nothing to do with him!! So, I now havent had any access for over a week, I am having to get changes put on remotely and it is driving me nuts!! Any advice? I have to also add we have had new security measures put onto our network server, could this have caused a problem?

'Actinic received an request forbidden error from the web server. The server is not properly configured to allow Actinic to run CGI scripts from the cgi-bin. Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.'

    Thanks for any help

If you're still using fasthosts them I seem to rmember seeing some other threads that suggest they've made some changes.

The only way to prove that a web host isn't at fault with cgi scripts is to take a simple test script (there are planty on the web), upload it and see if it runs.

I would try and put a simple 'hello world' perl script on the server and see if it runs.

PS. A common problem at the moments seems to be to do with scripts not being uploaded in ascii because of server changes. You could get your host to check this.

            The usual,

            - check the site
            - check permissions
            - check the error log
            - post your network settings
            - tell us who your host is
            - give us a url to look at

Without this kind of stuff there's little we can do to help.
