    Calculation of Shipping Charges

Our shipping charges are based on the weight of individual products and are multi-regional - this works fine BUT we have set up our product structure such that on an individual product if the customer chooses to purchase an associated product then we offer a discount - the consequence of this is that when a sale is made the stock control works fine and reduces the associated product stock but the shipping charge does not take into account the weight of the associated product.

For example, hammock (weight = 2kg), add a hammock stand (weight 15kg) and get a discount - shipping charge based on 2kg!

Any suggestions for an alternative approach (apart from siimply setting up all combined offers as separate products - this would then make stock control very difficult!) - are we between a rock and a hard place? Could we set up a new product with combined weight and two associated products, make the choice non optional and play around with the prices, etc, etc.

    Ideas please.

This issue is fixed in Version 6 and in the later versions of version 5. I'm afraid there is no way around it in Version 4 other than to use separate products.

      Thanks for the advice Chris.

I'm now implementing Plan B - all my hammocks now weigh 17kg.
