PERL Library Modules & Slow Scripts

Since converting our site to Developer 6.1.3 we have ensured that all external Catalog links are using the form:

    http://www.wise.co.uk/cgi/ss000002.pl?SECTIONID=New.html&NOLOGIN=1&ACTINIC_REFERRER=http://www.wise.co.uk/acatalog/

and those internal to /acatlog/ that are not generated by Actinic are using the form:

    http://www.wise.co.uk/cgi/ss000002.pl?SECTIONID=New.html&NOLOGIN=1

to avoid users being prompted to log on when browsing backwards and forwards.

However, this seems to have slowed down page accesses considerably and I seem to remember discussions some time ago about the version of PERL module supplied by Actinic being a slower fall-back to faster options that could/should be provided by our host (NetBenefit).

I have searched the knowledge base, etc. but can find no reference to this, so could someone remind me of the issues and the details we need to check with NetBenefit please?

The site can be viewed at http://www.wise.co.uk and clicking on Specials or New on the right side-bar will invoke the scripts.

    Thanks

    Info is here - http://www.actinic.co.uk/hosting/

There is a module available called mod_perl which can be used by Apache to process calls to Perl files quicker.

we have installed it on the servers at pinbrook, all is fine!!
