Problem with "Update Website" and .htaccess file

Hi - I am trying to upload an Actinic 6 site to a unix platform. The site is under development and so the webspace contains a .htaccess file that is set with username/password options to stop people getting in there before go-live.

When I try to upload the site via the Actinic "Update website" function I get the message:

"A server error occurred while attempting to merge server files. 401 - Authorization Required"

This works correctly if I delete the .htaccess file.

I wish to keep the username/password function within the .htaccess file in place, so is there anything I can change to make the "Update website" function work.

    TIA
    Regards
    David

I'm afraid not. During the 'merge' function at the end of the upload, the Perl on the server merges the latest updates to the search keyword index into the existing search index. It does this via an HTTP call - which would blocked by the access file.

This may be a long shot, but you could try disabling the search.
