online acceptance of credit cards

I am about to sign up with Authorize net for accepting credit cards online.
In the business settings/ payment and security, I dont know how to configure it so that i can accept Visa, Mastercard, american express and discover so that the customer is charged while he is on line.
business settings has 2 choices: captured for later and sent seperately. I added Authorize net.

Where do i add the credit cards? I want them processed on line, NOT for later.

If i am adding authorize net as my paymet method, how do i add american express and discover as a "Credit Card Type" choice?
If possible please email me a picture of the dialog box, the way it is supposed to look like.

Authorise.NET is a payment method rather than a card type. Actinic only supports certain payments methods and I couldn't see this one in the list (to see the list add a new payment in the table at the left hand side and look at the drop down list of payment methods). For an easy life you need to choose one of the PSPs in the list.

right now the Actinic gives me 2 choices, Visa and master card. How do I add American Express and Disocver if my payment method is Authorize net?

Hiya Mac,
navigate to View/Business settings/Payments & Security
Click on the arrow that says authorize net and then click to configure method. A box will open up called credit card capture configuration. at the bottom right of that box you will see a heading (Credit Cards Accepted) you can see the entries visa and mastercard.
There is a little black "+" just under where it says credit cards accepted click on that and a blank row will appear. Type in the credit card name (eg: American Express) you want to accept and repeat the steps above for additional credit cards.

the list of credit card accepted only applies to the inbuilt Actinic options. They are used to allow you to specify the parameters for each of the different card types (eg. does it have a start date). They only apply to the 'Credit card details captured ...' and 'Credit card details sent separately ...' payment methods. If I understand you correctly you only want to accept credit card payment through authorise.net so you need to remove all payment methods except authorise.net from the list.

There is no need to define a list of credit cards accepted if you use authorise.net. If you want to have a list on your site you could include logos on your site for the credit cards or change the payment method description to say which cards you accept.

If you want to accept payment by one set of credit cards one way and another set in a different way then the only way that you can do this is to use the payment method name to tell the customer which cards they are for.
