How to break away from template?

Is there any way to get Actinic to not use a pre-existing template design short of manually stripping the code out? It would seem that just editing code would cause it to get overwritten during the next site update or refresh anyway.

Our site already has a menu system and nav bars, etc., using includes for the menus and footers, and I would like to replace the Actinic menus with these.

You can select a theme that is quite bland and contains only very basic formating information for your templates, which you can then populate with your own stuff.

Go into Design | Themes and you will see the basic themes available from within there.

You say that Actinic keeps overwriting your changes, which means you are no doubt altering the wrong files. Go into Advanced | Template manager and that is where all of the templates reside, which if you amend those ones, is then used to create the pages of the site, so anything you do within those templates provided by the template manager will not get overwritten.

One thing you need to watch out for is using the compact HTML option within your Design | Options tabs. If you want to use code of the for <!-- etc etc, then using the default setting of compact will strip it all out and thus your includes will not work.

    Hope this helps........
