    Search not finding products

    I have a shop which I am testing but the search facility only seems to be finding a small percentage of the products. I suspect that it is only finding the products which I have had on for a few days.
    I do not have access to broadband and have spent the whole weekend posting this site so I am really hoping that if the part of the site which contrlos the updating of the search is just one of the scripts, I can ftp that file without having to refresh the whole site.
    Does anyone know if this is possible please.?

    Search updates instantly. I have played with it a lot. The default search is all words must find a match in the product. You can change this to any words. See this thread on how to change that: http://community.actinic.com/showthr...&threadid=4067

    Can we have the URL of the shop that is having problems?

      The shop is testing at http://www.centremaps.co.uk/acatalog

      Pages outside the shop use image maps to go directly to the shop product eg.

      http://www.centremaps.co.uk/landrang...-selection.htm If you click on the link for Cardiff it will take you to
      http://www.centremaps.co.uk/acatalog/L171.html but even once I have got there, if I do a search for cardiff I only get the explorer range of maps which have been there for a few days.

        I'm wondering if you hit some limit. Your site has so many unique words that I wonder if pages added later are not getting added to the word file correctly. I don't know of a way to refresh the search file only. Perhaps someone does.

          Thanks for your reply - I am trying another upload though because my internet connection keeps failing I doubt it is going to solve the problem. It takes hours, and yet i am sure there must just be one file I can send. I haven't read anything about a search limit, though none of my other shops have this many products, so perhaps that is the problem. Anyone else experience with this?

            If you have a problem that you suspect is server related and is taking ages to test then it may be worth installing a standalone server on your own system. See the Advanced Guide and search for "standalone".

            You can save your current network settings to a text file (Advanced / Network Setup / Export), change to the standalone settings and test at speed.

            Save these new settings to another textfile and you can switch between the diagnostic server and the real one by importing either set of settings.

              Many thanks Bob and Norman for all your help. I will search as you suggest so I can do that for the next shop, I have at last managed with a new upload and the search facility is working, so guess it's time to take a break.

                If you are having problems uploading due to an unreliable internet connection my automation moles might help you out. They have a 30 day free trial so you can use them to upload for you while you get the initial issues sorted out. They will basically sit and put the retry button for you rather than you having to sit and wait. More details at :
