Creating my own Extended Information Pages

What I'd like is to create my own extended information pages external to Actinic and then when a customers clicks on an image or text link they get the external extended information page. The external information page will contain some Javascript to change the image of the product.

How could I achieve this.

I don't know about having JavaScript in the external pages to change the image of the product, but in the Advanced User Guide on p40 is a guide to creating your own custom pop-up windows outside of Actinic's 'Extended Information' feature.
