    CSV import error

I've been working on a site using v7. Originally we imported and upgraded a snapshot from v7. Now, with the site revamped we have exported a .csv file. The file works fine if I don't change anything - it will import without a problem. When I try to add a new Brochure or Product page I end up with an error and NONE of my products showing. When I tried inserting a new product I received this error: "Line 134: Wrong number of fields. Expected 57 but got 56." It says this for a lot of lines.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I'm just attempting to insert a test product to make sure that we can add products via the csv at a later date.

This was a comon error back in the days of V7, it's to do with how a CSV formats a blank cell, i think it removes it. I think the fix was to copy one of the existing columns or insert a brand new one right at the end and just fill it with a character so it gets recognised.

Ok, just tried both of those suggestions, with no success.

I'd imagine you've not done it as it needs then.

Add a new column and fill each row of that column with something.

This fixed the error 100% of the time as i recall. Maybe there's an article in the KB that will guide in the light of no specific information on what you have done.

After messing around with the file a little more I was able to get several products to show in the content window. However now the same 'Wrong number of fields. Expected 57 but got 56' error still shows for some of the lines in the csv and I now get a new error: "The record did not have a matching header line to specify the fields in the record."

Maybe I have just been staring at all of this for too long to allow it to make sense

Well, apparently all I needed was a little lunch break

After following what you wrote, and moving things around a little more, everything is working!

According to the kb, the easiest idea was to copy the Section column to the end of the spreadsheet. Actinic didn't like that one, so I COPIED it, now I have the Section column in the .csv twice, but everything works fine.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out leehack, a little feedback from someone who has used to program really helps!
