How to restore a lost site without a snapshot

    Hi All
    This is my first post

I have the v703 FBIA version of actinic and recently lost my hard drive from our computer

Now we have a new computer and have downloaded the software, we are trying to import all the information we have built up over the years

We managed to save data from the old hard drive, and are desperately trying to import it into the software with no luck

It looks like our snapshots that we saved are not there but we do have lots of the old data in some form called actinic catalogue that seems to have lots of the old data

Can anyone please help as I have very limited knowledge

    Regards
    Daren

    Hi Daren,

To get the site back you'll either need a snapshot or a few of the files.

Do you have the old disk connected to the new computer? You should be able to either insert it as a second drive or get an external USB HD drive adapter. They're only abouy £10 on ebay and can be a life saver.

What sort of condition are the files on the hard disk? usually there's only a slight problem that's bad enough to corrupt the system files and prevent the OS from loading, but may leave the rest of the files OK.

If you can't get a snapshot, the same information is available in the site1 folder. If you copy over all the files there to the site1 directory on the new PC you should be able to recover the site. Make sure you copy and save the existing site1 folder first in case you run into problems.

One problem you may run into is accessing new orders unless you've made a note of the actinic keys that are used as security.

If you have the old data then try copying the Site1 folder from the old hard drive over the Site1 folder in the new installation. (with Actinic closed)

        Hi Guys
Just to say a big thank you.

I have managed to retrieve the old data from site1 and have successfully uploaded the site

          Updating website

          Hi All
          We use V7 FIBA

When I try to update our site the updater only goes through
          checking catalogue
          checking pages
          checking search indices

then it cuts off and does not upload changes to live website

Any help would be greatly received

As this is a site rebuild, the best thing is to do a full site refresh. The site might be getting stuck if it was previously uploaded with an earlier version of actinic.
