    Advanced Network settings - V7

Please help - my head is going to explode and I sort of need it intact.

This WAS working the last time I did any work on this site - which was about a year ago maybe. And now its not. I've trawled through pages of search results here and I seem to be making things worse.

On testing my network settings I get the error messages:

"The directory specified as the path from the CGI-BIN to the acatalog directory does not exist on the web server. Check the path. Also see the on-line help for "Path from FTP server to Catalog"."

    Then immediately after

"The script does not have permission to write to the web site directory."

(note: these first two error messages are recent developments this evening after playing with the settings - but I'm sure I put them back to how they were)

Then I get a results window:
    http://www.stardustandsparkles.co.uk/act1.jpg

Then I get the error message "Your Catalog URL appears to be invalid. The files uploaded to the given 'Path from cgi-bin to acatalog directory', can not be downloaded via the browser on the given Catalog URL. These two access routes don't point to the same destination on the server."

My Network Settings look like this:
    http://www.stardustandsparkles.co.uk/act2.jpg

Directory tree on server looks like this
    http://www.stardustandsparkles.co.uk/act3.jpg

Permissions are 777 on acatalog and 755 on cgi-bin

Hosting is with 1and1. And I have DEFINITELY had this site working perfectly on its current hosting location before.

    Thanks in advance
    Steph

Server tree: The cgi-bin directory should normally be at the same level as the acatalog folder not within it.

Temporarily load an older working snapshot to check your network settings that worked from some time ago - export them if need be.
(Snapshot first before reverting as you will need to bring your current site back in again after checking)

Duncan, thanks, it was the directory tree structure that was doing it (although all my old settings were for a cgi bin as a sub dir of acatalog - go figure). Anyway, moved the cgi-bin, altered the network settings to reflect this (and a couple of extra tweaks) and it seems to be running OK now.

      Thankyou )
