Search for part numbers

By default, should the product part number be searchable?

If so, does anybody know which bit of the productline template sets out the search criteria?

Also are . - / \ characters appear in the search?

We've spoken to Alan here at Actinic.

Basically, the default search does not search on part numbers, but the Advanced User Guide has a guide to help you create a search text field for entering product references, and then it takes you straight to the product.

The characters recognised in the search are listed in the 'Word Character Set' in 'View | Search Settings'. You can add custom characters to this.

Funny thing is, we have one particular product template that allows part numbers to be searched, and we cant find out why!

Anyway we added all the part numbers to the description text - problem solved.
