    Too many customers

Is there a limit on the number of customer accounts?

On 680 accounts we have not had a problem uploading but having increased the number to 950 (by importing the lastest account data from our order processing PC) Actinic hangs on upload. If I cancel I get an "out of memory dialog box". So this morning I increased ram from 256K to 512K but still out of memory.

    Any ideas anyone?

Actinic looks for invalid customer accounts before uploading catalog, the SQL to do this is quite complicated so the problem might lie there. I think that the only way to sort this out would be for an expert to take a look at your database, so would suggest entering an email support request with Actinic or phoning Actinic if you have cover.

Just a thought, you have had Actinic for quite a while so it is possible that your database is still in access 97 format, converting it to access 2000 might sort it out. I would run Housekeeping | Compact database as well, it can't hurt and it might help.

      Hi Mike.

Are you still having problems? If so, would you be as kind as to zip up your ActinicCatalog.mdb database and send it to:

communityadmin[@]actinic.co.uk and mark it for the attention of Darren

(sorry about the sqauare brackets, trying to stop email harvesters!)

      Thanks in advance
      Darren

        Thanks Darren & Jan,

Moving actinic to a new machine with 512k ram solved the problem, until I tried to upload with another application running when it went out of memory again.

I think the culprit has been found now however. One of the customers imported on customeraccounts.csv, who we can call Fred Bloggs, had entered his name when ordering as "Bloggs, Fred". The extra comma appears to have upset things.

ActinicCatalog.mdb has now reduced from 215mb to 15mb!
