can I make an image change on choice selection?

Does anyone know how to change product images by the user selecting a choice (radio button etc).
My reason for asking is because I have a range of sunglasses with different frames and different lenses. The permutations are endless but a buyer would like to see a good size image for each so selecting by choice would be a great feature.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers

    Javascript available

    Bangers,

I've had the same problem as yourself, and I'm glad to say that I've managed to work it out.

The way I've managed this is to create an external HTML Page to Actinic that contains all the images and details for the product and then when they select the Design they require from a Drop Down box the image changes.

Then all I do in my Actinic Product is create a link to the external HTML Page.

If this sounds like what you want please e-mail me at ew_jones@ibabyshop.co.uk

and I'll send you an example propably this evening.

    Best Regards

    Elfyn

Sounds just the job. I'd appreciate you sending on your example and maybe some brief instructions to enquiries@theprostore.co.uk.

            Chris,
            Thanks for the thread.
However this method doesn't really work for me.
http://www.theprostore.co.uk/the_pro...nglasses.shtml will show you what I'd like to achieve in actinic rather than hard coding it as I did on the page. At the moment everytime I upload my catalogue I have to remember to ftp the hard coded sunglasses page or I lose the effect. Any tips on another way around this would be appreciated.

Why don't you specify it as an additional file in Advanced>Additional Files then Actinic will FTP it up for you.

                  Bangers,

I worked out a way to completely automate what you want.

Dynamic changing of product image when a radio choice is selected.

In addition a thumbnail of the alternative image is placed against the radio item.

                  To use this all you need to do is to place the supplementary image name in the choices HTML for Name field within curly brackets. E.g. Blue{widget_blue.jpg}

The popup code and a thumbnail image against the radio button is then created automatically.

Attached is a readme and a screenshot.

Let me know when you get it tested. I tested here for a massive 5 minutes (it was 2:30am after all).

Also it might be a good idea to keep these additional images in a separate folder from your usual one as that will make it easy to manage them in the additional file list. I still can't think of an easy way to make Actinic auto upload these - grrr...

PS Black Tie. I live on a beach in Turkey for half the year. I'll switch the photo to one of me in my new shades (hint) when I get back out there.

Here's an update attached that lets you define the icon scale down factor using a Customvar.

I'll get it all a test over the weekend and let you know how I get on. Can't see there being a problem, although I can't write it I can see what you've done in the script. Great Stuff

One thing that I don't think I've mentioned.

As I'm (rather cunningly) using the primary image name as the ID for the swap location, you can't use the same main image on more than one product per page.

Actually you can but the first such image will probably be the undesired target for all the swaps.

It works this way as that's the only NETQUOTEVAR I could find that was valid within the Act_ProductImage.html template.
