CUSTOMVAR displayed in all checkout templates

I have a CUSTOMVAR:CODE set up on each of my products. Is there a way to pull this CUSTOMVAR and have it displayed alongside the product information in the checkout cart.

This code is for V8 but should work in V7.

You also need to set your CUSTOMVAR to be made available to the Perl scripts. Checking "Use As Customvar" in the Product Details / Properties should be enough.
