    Gift Wrapping option

    Hello,

I have a customer who wants to be able to offer a gift wrapping service for orders (not on individual products) in the catalog for an extra fee. Is there a way of offering a dropdown of YES/NO or two radio buttons on one of the checkout pages (perhaps next to the choice of shipping destination), whicih will add the gift wrapping cost to the total order?

    You help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Lee

There is a discussion about this at
    http://community.actinic.com/showthr...=&threadid=381

This talks about how you can create a component (called 'Gift Wrap') with an attribute and two choices (called 'Yes' and 'No') and then set prices for each one. This allows you to do giftwrap for individual items.

If you want it added in the checkout then I suggest you create duplicate shipping classes - one that includes gift wrap and one that does not.

I'm also looking to add this option. At the moment we have a 'simple' shipping calculation of £4.50 for all orders. How would I add another duplicate shipping class with the extra charge for gift wrapping?

I would actually add gift wrapping as an optional component within each product. Check out http://www.silverballoon.com/acatalog/Ellis.html.

That is really not realistic when you sell many different items and people are shopping for the holidays buying many different items. It needs to be in a future release.

Is it not possible to add another shipping class then with the 'simple' option we are using? We have about 300 + different products and would only like to apply one gift wrap charge per order, not per item.

What you could do kat is in 'Business Settings | Shipping and Handling', change your 'Calculation Basis' from 'Simple' to 'Total Quantity'.

Then within the 'UK' zone, get rid of 'First Class' and 'Second Class'. Then right click on 'UK' and go to 'Add Class | New Class'. Add a class called 'Standard Shipping' and in the grid, enter a quantity of '1' and a cost of '£4.50'. Set 'Excess' to take the highest value in the table.

Then right click on 'UK' and go to 'Add Class | New Class'. Add a class called 'Standard Shipping + Gift Wrap' (or something) and in the grid, enter a quantity of '1' and a cost of '£6.50' (or however much you charge for shipping with gift wrap). Again, set 'Excess' to take the highest value in the table.

You can now get rid of the example 'EU' and 'North America' zones.
