image thumbnails

I would like to use small product images on product pages and have the user click on them for an enlarged image... does catalog have a function for this?... if not, can code for this be written into templates?... thanks!

I did some patches that implements this for different choices. See the results on:-

Use the last zipfile in the post. It's for V6 but should be the same for V5.
