Windows XP - can't get into Actinic

    Can anyone help please.

From the desktop, I double click on the Actinic icon, the timer comes up then returns to the desktop - nothing. On the rare occasion I've got it to do something, it gives an error message about the database and when I click OK it sends me back to the desktop again.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the same happens. Now Word will let me in, but after 30 seconds chucks me out again back to the desktop.

    Hi there

Please if possible, could you provide an error message, it would be useful to see why actinic is not able to load.
If you can copy and paste the error message concerning about the database

    Kind Regards

If you get this problem with applications other than Actinic, then it is more likely a problem with your XP installation. These symptoms may appear if:
      • a recent software installation failed to complete successfully (leaving a lock set), or
      • you have picked up a virus (see below)

"This issue may be caused by the Pretty Park virus. The Pretty Park virus creates the Files32.vxd file, and then copies the Files32.vxd file to the Windows\System folder of your computer. Also, the Pretty Park virus modifies a registry key that causes the Files32.vxd file to run when you attempt to run any program that has an .exe file extension."
      See http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

There may be other reason too such as installing XP Service Pack 1 with certain hardware configurations, so try searching the Microsoft Technical Database at http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-gb;kbhowto

I would also suggest looking in the Event Logs to see if the system is recording an error. If it is you can search the Microsoft Database for the error number.
