    Importing Data

I am totally new to actinic have only been using it for a month using very basic functions.
Adding new products adding the images ect....
During January I've got to find a way to key on £20,000 products. I am the only person who has access to the machine as I am constantly using it. This leaves me with an issue that I alone cannot key on 20,000 plus Descriptions.
I know there is an import & export facility but as of yet haven’t had time to look at it.

Question if I create a database in Filemaker or access could I import that into Actinic as a CSV file. That way all i have to do is figure out the structure that it exports. So I can generate a database around that. So when it imports the data back in it will be in the same format???

Basically is this the best way to achieve what I am trying to do as I’ve been told that actinic cannot be accessed via a network???
Oh we are using the latest Actinic 5 but will be implementing version 6 early next year.

Many thanks, & sorry if this is in the incorrect forum

Actinic imports data through text files, you can import basic product details using a flat text file and complex product details using hierarchical import, there are sample import files in your site directory, look at import in the help file for more details.

If you decide not to do this yourself and need expert help then there are numerous developers on this community that would be able to do this for you, so I would suggest asking for a quote.
