    Updating Prices

    Hi All,
How do you update your prices? I have over 1000 products and it's taking me over a week to update everything and when i finish i have to start all over again .
I don't set prices by margins/percentages so i can't update a whole lot of products at once, but I would like to view a lot of products mabey by section and do it that way? The thing taking the most time is opening each product individually and updating them. There has to be an easier way. Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    Hi Jacy,

The easiest way to do this would be to create an import file (either by exporting from Actinic or by grabbing the data directly from Actinic) you can then edit the data in excel. If you have permutation pricing then you might have to update other fields as well.

You could always edit the Database file directly. It's located in the root folder. Named: ActinicCatalog.mdb

Of course, always make a backup before messing with the database directly, and don't do it on your live server.

You will need MS Access but it's a very similar look to Excel.

Once in, edit the "Products" Table.

Caution. Only do this if you have simple products with only 1 price. Prices are held in several other places in the database for permutations, components, etc. I don't know all the details (just posting a quick warning because you're in Australia and might be working on this before you get any more UK feedback).

Jan (I think) posted something about this, so a search for "price" and "permutations" and "ActinicCatalog.mdb" or "Database" might find it.

          Hiya Norman,
Thanks for that. I'm not going to touch the database file. (Thanks for the suggestion though Dyl ) I've cut down the items on my site so it is more manageable for now. Updating won't be a problem for me now.

          Cheers,

          Mitch
