    Updating Issues

    Hello

We seem to be having an issue with our software which affecting us updating our website.

We make changes to the site in the software, then update the site as normal however the changes are no longer taking effect.

We have spoken to the website host company and they have looked over and checked our network settings and they are all fine. The have since checked the website's apache error logs and have said it is down to a rouge path. Which we cannot find anywhere in the settings to change.

The path in question is below
    /home/gdewing/public_html/www/

The errors which are seen in the log are as follows :

File does not exist: /home/gdewing/public_html/www/acatalog/homebutton.gif, referer: http://www.ourdomain.co.uk/

The company which host the website say it should be :
    /home/gdewing/public_html/ or /home/gdewing/www/

However we cannot find this anywhere and we are now at a total loss as to what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks

Rather than trying to guess. Can you tell us the website and page this is occuring on.

    Mike

Edit: If it's not updating then it's likely to be a network settings error. In which case export and copy / paste your network settings into the forum. Remember to delete/overwrite any usernames and passwords.

It seems to be happening accross the whole site...

      www.cameramarts.co.uk

We have made changes to home page and to the photo store page in the actinic software but the website doesnt change.

(I should point out that we make the changes, then update the site and it goes through the update process fine, but the changes don't reach the website)

      Thanks

As Mike mentioned export your network settings and post here without passwords.

Also run a network test and post any errors.

Please find attached a screen shot of our network settings... Thanks Again

Also note when we press update, the software runs the update as normal with no error messages...

It was the hosting company which notices we had errors in the website's apache error log.

There's an Export button on the right hand side - press that and then give it a file name - say network.txt - then open that and paste into into your post without passwords.

There's also a Test button on the right - click this and note any errors and post them here.

Also please tell us who your host is and what package you have with them.

For some reason I see you have the website URL as https://www.cameramarts.co.uk/. Why is this https?

I'm actually not sure.... but when you type

https://www.cameramarts.co.uk into the address bar the updates appear... however when http://www.cameramarts.co.uk is typed in it's the older version of the site!

Look at Business Settings > Payment and Security.

I suspect you've ticked the box that says SSL 'On whole site' rather than just the checkout pages.

Hi sorry the store is now closed so I can't access the actinic software now until Monday, but I know the ssl does cover the whole site, but I'm sure it has always been this way!

Good Morning, i have checked that ssl setting this morning and it was checked for the whole site. I have since changed it to checkout and customer login. Under network settings the website's url changed back to http:// however after performing an update. The site remains the same!
