    Sudden checkout errors : V6

We've been running our site using Actinic V6 for a few years now without (major!) incident. However the last few days several customers have reported difficulties. Firstly, it can take several seconds (10 seconds isn't unusual) before transferring to the transaction page. Often after selecting Invoice Location (all orders have been for the UK) a general script error is returned on about 50% of attempts. Example is: Error: ../acatalog/212Z84Z101Z149A1264190338B22816.session can not be locked during Session init!

I've spoken to our hosting company who can't see any reason for these new issues but have deleted a large number of Actinic temporary files.

We last made a few minor updates to the site about 3-4 weeks ago - that was adding new products, no actual site changes.

Can anyone shed any light for me please?

    Thanks in advance.

The first thing I'd try is this from the knowledge base: http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44830

I'd hazard a guess that either the Perl module update on the server, or some other server update has recently been applied to effect this change. Alternatively it may be a disk space issue, although the removal of temporary files(?) would resolve that.

It may be permissions issue on there server also. There are several threads on this issue which a search will yield.

I'd recommend upgrading to V10/11 regardless, and with this in mind another test would be to download the V10 30-day trial, import your settings from V6 and switch to test mode, upload to the test site and test the order processing. This will highlight if it is server based issue or an Actinic version based issue.

Thank you for directing me to the other threads. My gut feeling is that the problem lies with a hosting issue so I'll get them to revisit troubleshooting. We invoice 99.9% of our customers so I'm confident it doesn't relate to a payment issue either. Intermittent problems are the worst!

I will have a look at V10 in the meantime.

        Thanks again.
