    Quantity on product page

When using the quantity on product page setting and clicking on the add to cart button You are sent to a summary page and then redirected back to the shop. Is it possible to go to the shopping cart after clicking on add to cart as per normal?

Yeah I have the same problem! I have just had a frustrating conversation with technical support and the answer is " tough thats the way it works", they have obviously never purchased anything on line before and dont realise how anoying this is.

I have allso noticed a few other posts with the same problem.
this need fixing urgently. any other people with this problem please add to this thread to try and get things changed

I'm sorry that the software does not work in the way you need it to. I was working with the support team member you spoke to this morning to try and find a way we could make it work for you, but we drew a blank. Sometimes this happens, less now than it used to, and when it happens it is an automatic trigger for us to raise a wish list item - which has already been done.

If you want to discuss the matter further, then please drop me an email on cdicken@actinic.co.uk.

With regards to Barry's original question, if you have the shopping mode set to 'Quantity in Shopping Cart' then as soon as an item is selected you are shown an editable shopping cart where you can edit quantites etc.

Yeah this mode is almost right But It still adds another step. For the retail customer its fine if you only want one item. If your a trade customer you want multiples at selection. Currently its like taking one product off the shelf, walking to the checkout then saying to the assistant can I have 4 of those....

Well all struggle to get our customers to the checkout this is just another barrier.

I think the culprit is ca00001.pl it just needs another decision to add the items to the basket then showcart I would do it but I dont know PL

I also agree that this is annoying, I have looked at a number of sites. although these are probably custom written at great expense, most have a common theme. This theme being a small box that keeps a running count of the number of items and the cost, also a lot of sites have a simple pop-up box that states 10 XYX's have been added to your basket. could this not be incorporated in actinic without the need for a bounce page. I use V6 with quantity on product page, so the bounce page is of no use. The check cart function is more than addequate for editing quantities or removing items.

Any suggestions, or has anyone managed to remove this need for a bounce page?

          Cheers

            Another in agreement

            Hi,

I'm having the same problem with this bounce page. I agree with Russell's sentiments on the subject of usability. I was certain that I'd seen an Actinic-based site that used the popup option - only marginally less annoying IMHO - but obviously I'm mistaken.

I tried setting the bounce page delay to 0 (Design | Options | Shop Defaults Tab) to see what effect that would have. Interestingly, I get a cart error message complaining that he quantity must be between 1 and 32767!

In the next maintenance release of Actinic (due out in a few weeks), the bounce page delay error is due to be fixed. This will mean that customers will be returned to the store page as soon as they have added a product to the cart.

                    Sounds Good!

                    Hi There,

Chris - Many thanks for the info on the update. Please can you give us a brief summary of the new behaviour and a ballpark release date?

Andyk - I'm not sure which feature you are referring too. I'm running the very latest version and it is still a problem for me. Sorry!

                    Cheers

I am having the same problem as listed in the first post:

I am using 'Quantity on Product Page' and when a customer clicks on 'Add to Cart' I would like them to be taken straight to the shopping cart (SHOWCART page), where they have the options of editing cart contents, returning to where they were in the shop, or checking out.

A pop-up box as described above would be a good alternative.

Neither of these seem to be feasible at the moment. Did I read somewhere they were on the wish list?

In the meantime, is there any way of editing the page which appears when you click Add To Cart? For example, to add options of returning to shop, or proceeding to shopping cart? This would do.

The easiest interim would be to use 'Quantity in Shopping Cart' as your shopping mode rather than 'Quantity on Product Page'. This immediately shows people the shopping cart when they add a product, and they can edit the quantities there.

Also, from 6.1 onwards when you enter a bounce page delay of '0' (in 'Design Options | Shop Defaults') you are shown the shopping cart after adding a product to the shopping cart (when using a shopping mode of 'Quantity on Product Page').

                            Chris

having to enter qty on the cart page is a pain when you only have one add to cart button on a page, lets be honest do you go around tescos select your oranges, apples, milk, e.t.c go to the check out then go back and pick up how many you need.

Also the release of V6.1 is talked about in many threads with the same question "when" but know one has put a date on it.

If it has been released - i never got an email telling me. I have tried the beta on a test site and everything seems to be ok. But the supported version would be nice

                            Cheers
