Weight on downloaded order no longer shown

Hi

I've been running Actinic 7.0.7 for almost 6 years and it has started losing settings.

The most recent one is the weight that it used to show on the order once I've downloaded it. It used to show the weight on the Shipping & Handling tab, under Order Packaging, but the heading for that field now just says Undefined Contents.

I've looked at the help screens, but haven't managed to work out how to put it back.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Some questions...
Do you regularly compact the database?
What size is the access database?
Have you removed old orders, in the past or are you running with 6 years of orders still in the database?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I wasn't aware of the need to compact the database.

I'm looking for the access database, but, not knowing exactly where to look, I haven't found it yet.

There are 6 years of orders... 2162 of them...

It sounds like I'm causing the problems myself...

First of all do a compact of the database and see if that helps.

I've done the compact.

Should I delete a lot of the orders now?

Make sure you have exported the orders if you need to refer to them in the future before deciding to delete them. If you do delete them, them compact again afterwards.

No, unfortunately not. I've tried ordering something off my website and downloading the order, in case it might only be sorted out on new orders, but, it isn't.

You inferred that you have 'lost' other settings too - what else has gone astray?

Some of the shipping rates, a few times, if I remember correctly

no, I had to put them back on and upload. It's been quite puzzling.

Odd - unfortunately I'm away from my development machine and don't have v7 loaded on the computer with me.

If you have Microsoft Access it may be worth trying a repair of the database, but backup well first.

I've discovered that the weight column had managed to hide itself and the Undefined Contents column had shown itself instead, leading me to believe that the weight column had lost its setting. Very weird!

The weight column is now restored.
