    Order confirmation email failing to send

    Bit embarrassing this, I am getting a number of messages from customers that say they haven't had e-mail confirming that their orders were successfully placed. I have a long copy e-mail covering all this but I am struggling to find were it goes out from so I can check the out going mail server settings.

    Where should I look in V7

    I know this is going to be so obvious when I find out!

    The only user settings are in Actinic in the network settings.

    If this used to work then it would follow that it might be server side. Are you hosted by 1and1? - if so then there have been some fairly recent posts about this and solutions to it.

      OK think I found the problem in Network Settings. ISP upgraded password security to 15 digits and I missed updating Actinic.

      Thanks for the hint and no, I don't use 1 & 1, I read the reviews on them and the trouble getting domains away etc, not nice.

        For future reference your online error log file is quite often useful to highlight these kinds of email issues:

        e.g. your one has the following

        Code:
        Program = ORDERSCR, Program version = 481   , HTTP Server = Apache                         , Return code = 999                 , Date and Time =  2012/09/10 12:01, Internal Errors = Error returned from SMTP server (1:  535 Incorrect authentication data )
        You can access it here: http://www.nitmix.com/acatalog/error.err (!!large file with logs back to 2005!)

          Yikes! Haven't been in there in a while.

          I had tweaked the mail settings but looks like they didn't update, just reset again so should be OK.

            I think I am nearly there on this having changes the account details I can at least get the test message sent to my mail box but I am still not getting the intended content of my thank you e-mail going to my customers.

            Where is the contant of the e-mail that goes out to new customers when they complete their order? I had a long message sent to all customers to let them know about delievry and what to do before delivery of their order.

            I can't locat this content

              You will find it on the Design tab in the drop down box - Customer Email.

                No Customer e-mail in my desig Tab, been scouring for hours on this, V7 version, any clues?

                  In v7 you will need to go to Advanced - Template Manager (Click change view if need be to see the grey version of the window rather than the blue glossy one). Click the Miscellaneous tab and you will see a frame titled Email. Clicking on those buttons will open the relevant email in your chosen editor (most likely notepad).
