502 Error on Upload and Merge

    Hi

I am halfway through designing our new site and thought I may as well load it up to the server to check out how it looks and works.

When I upload either with Refresh or Update it sends all of the catalog files and then returns a 502 Error on the Merge.

We are running on a Fosthosts box not Linux (all permissions set 700) I can;t change them!!

When I go and try entering the site I get a CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers.

    The Network Test runs fine.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks

    Hi there

Sorry do you mean you are running on a fasthost server, which is not linux. Possibly you are running on their windows server.

With some windows server, you are not able to change permission using CHMOD function, the only way the permission can be changed, is by the webhosting company themselves

The /acatalog/ folder permission should be set to the following:

    Modify
    Read & Execute
    Read
    Write

    Hope this helps

      Hi Nadeem

Yes sorry, we are running on a Windows server. The FTP user or (Owner) has has read/write/execute permissions set on the actalog directory currently at 700.

Do I need to get Fasthosts to change permissions on the cgi_bin and catalog directory in order to fix this problem?
      Thanks

        Hi there

Yes, I'm afraid with Fasthost windows server, you will need them to set the permissions

/acatalog/ folder has to be set to 777; (Owner, Group, Public)
/cgi-bin/ folder has to be set to 755 (Owner, Group, Public)

        Kind Regards

          Interesting

After speaking to Fasthosts and shouting the odds that the scripts will not run I just had a call back to tell me my domain is on one of their old server and the permissions are not changeable due to the server being out of date.

I only moved it over last week from my old hosting co!!

They have agreed to move me over to a Linux box in the next half hour so fingers crossed.

          Thanks again Nadeem
          Thanks
