    Email Format not valid

    Hi,

I'm importing in from a CSV file about 500 entries

On a number of them Actinic says:

Line 106: Invalid email address. The format must match "name@network.address"

However the majority of my email addresses do not neccesarily follow this format as they maybe:

    bob.bob@bobs-house.org.uk
    bob-bobkinson@bobshouse.com etc etc

The majority of fields are imported in but i'm getting 23 that it does not like, though I cant see a reason as to why its not accepting them if it accepts other of the same type.

It sometimes will import the customer account and addresses for that email address, and it can be seen in the email field, but others it simply ignores the whole customer account and goes to the next one.

If anyone knows of why this may be happening, please let me know.

    Kind Regards

Check the length of the email addresses that failed. Do they look particularly long? From memory, there is a limit of around 50 characters in this field.

      Re: 50 chars in email

      Hi,

      Thanks for your reply.

The vast majority of the emails are under 50 charecters, they are normally less than 25.

So as yet still no idea as to why its happening.

      Thanks though for your reply.

Are there any other similarities? Do they all include hyphens before the @ or dots before the @? I don't think this is a problem, but we do need to check whether there are any similarities. One sugestion is to post 10 of the email addresses here, with all alphanumeric characters replaced by x (or something).

          Re: Email Addresses

Its seems to mess up on these:

          x.xxxxxxx@xxx-xxx.com
          xxxxxx@xxxx.ac.uk
          xxxxx.xxxxx@xxxxxx.ac.uk
          xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com
          xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk
          xxxxxx@xxxx.ac.uk
          xxxxxx@xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx.ac.uk
          xxxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxx.org.uk
          xxxxxxx@xxxxxxx.ac.uk
          xxxxxxxx@xxx.org.uk
          xxxxxx.xxxx@xxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.gov.uk
          xxxx.xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxx.ac.uk
          xxxx-xxxx@xxxxxx.org.uk

though it seems to like others done like this, its a bit annoying cos it will not import the ones which and were only working on the demo data at the mo.

Also some of the addresses it does not like are blank and thier respective 'Email on order field' is set to 0, so not sure as to why it does not like this either.

          Hope this helps. Regards

I cannot suggest any reason why these emails are not working.

            I can only suggest either:

            1) Just enter those 23 email addresses manually.

            or

            2) Register an email support request and the team will actually try out your data for you and find out what's going on.

Perhaps it's another field on these lines that's actually wrong and is causing this (quote or other wierd characters in the text for example).
