    Quantity based % discounts

I require some help with quantity based discounts.

The products have discounts of 10 - 15 - 20 - 25 & 30% based on the quantity of any particular item - not total quantity purchased. & note that the quantities very depending on the item

I can find how to set quantity based price breaks in 'product details' but cannot find how to set discount % breaks, all I seem to be able to do is set a % discount which is applied depending on the account settings rather than the item itself.

The only way I know to do it is with components and permutations.

    Component: Quantity
    Choice 1
    Choice 5
Choice 10, etc. depending on your decision.
When you go to the Components Permutation tab and click fill list, it will enter the quantities. You add the unit price at each level.

As far as I know Actinic does not allow percentage discounts per product...probably on the wish list.

Be certain you set the product for sum of component prices.

    Hope that helps.

      Thanks Jeff

It would seem that to add the functionality I want the site will get a bit messy. I may have to stick with quantity/price based breaks until Actinic add this function.

        Are you using Actinic Business?

In that case, go to the 'Prices' tab of a product and click the '+' in the top-left of the grid.

In the 'Price' field, enter a new price per unit. You have to do this as an actual cost rather than a % discount. Then in the 'Min' field, enter the minimum amount that customers need to purchase in order to get that discount.

Add as many rows as you need to put in all your quantity breaks for your items.

          I am using Actinic Business

I was trying to avoid having to do it this way - I wanted to apply a % discount based on the quantity ordered rather than a cost per item based on the quantity ordered.

Whilst on the topic is it possible to do a flat file import of the price breaks ? I know it can be done as a heirarchical import

This is not going to be possible I'm afraid. I will add it to the wish list for you.

Afraid not. The only way to import these is via a hierarchical file.
