Report Description Field

I have been hacking away at the DB for some time now and noticed there is a "Report Description" field available when you import external links, import from CSV and also is a column in the Product table of the main DB. I have tried to use this but i can't see any way of editing it or using it.

Does this field have a use, and if so, how can it be used and what for.

If you go into View / Business Settings / Options and check "Enable Extended Product Description for Customer Reports", you will now find an extra tab in your Product Details called "Report Description". That's the field you've noticed.

Text you put in there will appear on the printed reports (usually used for things like meeting EC requirements that some products must be accompanied by a full description).
