customer email layout - INSANE!!

I'm really struggling with the sensless layout of our customer emails:

It's the component section.....it seems like the width of the column for component info is too narrow....here's a sample from a test purchase email (site is aimed at german speakers, hence translated text!)

BEZEICHNUNG ANZAHL PREIS GESAMTPREIS

The components there are everything after (and including) "Details".

Take the "St." of Fish St for example!......it's just such a wasteful layout!! How do i make that 1st column of the table (called BEZEICHNUNG in my case) wider?

I've contacted support on this and been sent an edited actinicorder.pm file but it made no difference!

I'd be really grateful if anyone can shed any light here!!
