    Snapshot import problem

    A client of mine has 2 websites and currently has a sale on both which is ending on the 14th Feb. He created a snapshot of one of the sites and emailed it to me to change the prices back to their pre-sale amounts which I've done. He also emailed me the snapshot of the other site but when I try to import the snapshot it doesn't actually change any of the data despite it saying that the import was successful. The catalog on his PC definitely shows the sale prices yet when I import it onto my copy of Actinic it doesn't change anything. He's using exactly the same version as me so there are no conflicts there. He's also emailed me this snapshot twice now and it hasn't actually imported the data on either occasion despite saying it's been successful. Any ideas why the data from the snapshot isn't importing? The version we're using is 5.1.6.0.0.33.CNNA.

    Hi Chris,

    Not sure why this is happening as the snapshot functionality in v516 is normally stable. Have you tried transferring just the database instead?

      Hi Ben,

      No, I haven't tried importing the database yet as luckily I was able to work with the version of the site I already had. I have since exported the snapshots successfully from my laptop to my desktop though so they seem to be ok in that direction. I've sent the updated snapshots back to the client and will know tomorrow if they're ok. He'll probably have to export them again though from his PC shortly so I'll see if it works this time.

        The client sent me the snapshots from both his sites this morning after they updated them but when I import them onto my PC there's no change. The prices aren't the ones he updated earlier. I took a look at the prices in the database after the snapshot was imported and sure enough they're the old ones. Seems for whatever reason his snapshots aren't including the database.

        I've also noticed that his snapshots are smaller than mine in file size. For the same site mine is 3.13mb and his is 2.42mb. That seems a bit strange to me because I thought they'd be very similar in size. Is it possible for his snapshot facility to be leaving out the database?

        I'm going to go and see him to try out his snapshot export for myself and see what happens but any other suggestions/comments in the meantime would be a help

          I tend to import a snapshot (which gives you the registry settings) and take time fiddling with it to make sure it is working. I then copy over the latest ActinicCatalog.mdb database separately to ensure I am working with the very latest data.

            I went to see the client and sure enough their snapshot facility was leaving out the database. I thought about leaving their installation as it was but to avoid confusing them I reinstalled Actinic and the snapshot facility is now working fine again.
