    different qualifiers for credit cards

    Version 5.

I am setting up my payment methods. Is there an easy way of setting up different mandatory fields for different credit card providers. There do not seem enough options in the design/text text fields. We have selected the requirements for the different cards in business settings, but the mandatory fields which we have as highled in red are not showing for some fields in the payment option page. Any advice?

    Hi there

setting up different mandatory fields for different credit card providers
I'm afraid this is not possible with Actinic at the moment apart from using the options in "design | text"

but the mandatory fields which we have as highled in red are not showing for some fields in the payment option page.
This is only dependent on what you have select in "Config method", in Payment and Security in Business Settings. An example is that Mastercard will only have a required field for CVV2 if you have selected CVV2 on Configure method for Mastercard

We have selected the required fields in business settings/ config method, but the incorrected fields are presented on the card entry page.

for example, when entering mastercard details there is no issue number to input but that field is still presented to be filled in. I have only selected the issue number for switch and solo cards but these fields are always present for all card selction from the drop down box.

I bought something on line myself the other day and it was obviously an Actinic site, so I tried the theory out on their site before I entered my order. When I keyed in that I wanted to pay by Visa I was given my card number, start date, expiry date and my cvv2 number and when I selected the switch option, I was given card number, start date expiry date issue number which is what I would expect. The screen seemd to refresh to the new requirements of the particular card chosen. If it just a case of all of the fields been available for all cards and relying upon the customer to enter correctly, then why have the configure method in business settings. I am confused.

The fields will work differently for different cards but there is no explanation of the fields required if you are using standard SSL. IOW if you have enabled Issue Number for Switch but not for Visa, the Issue Number field will still be visible for Visa but no data will be required. Whereas if Switch has been selected and no data is entered in the Issue Number field, an error will be shown.

The other methods of gathering the cc data online display the fields differently. If you use Actinic Shared SSL, the fields are all still visible but there are caveats underneath the form explaining which fields are needed for which card. If you use the java applet encryption, the fields are dynamically generated depending on the card selected.

I've uploaded some screen grabs of the different methods to explain.

If you want to continue with the standard SSL method, you could write your own caveats into the act_order02 template.
