    Merge files error

When i'm trying to do a refresh or an update. Everything goes fine until it tries to merge files. it displays the error:

an error occured while sending the merge request.

    Does anyone know why???

Been through our network settings etc, and have no idea.

    kind regards

    Hi there,

In Actinic if you go to Advance | Network Set-up and click on the test button do you get a 'Test Successful' message?

Is this the first time that you are uploading your site? or has this problem just occurred?
    Thank You

      re:

I get a test succesfull dialog, but still get the wrror when uploading.

I had a go at the wizrd thing on network settings it said something about file permissions needing to be 0755 but they were set 0644.

I've been through it, and the settings seem ok.

Would you happen to know exactly what is causing this now???

        Hi there,

Can you please check to see if the 'acatalog' folder has the permission of '777' and the 'cgi-bin' has '755'. If the permissions are incorrect then such error can occur as at the point of merging file Actinic set's permissions on the dynamically generated 'fil' files.
Therefore, it is worthwhile checking the permission on the directories.
        Thank You

Much later, I've had this error too, but the permissions were right. I'd just upgraded from Catalog to Developer, and the merge was failing. A complete refresh of the site files sorted it, so I thought it worth mentioning here too so that others looking for this error message might try this solution too.

I am on week 2 of the evaluation of Catalog and I got this a few times. I also get the 'Not responding' a few times at this same point.
