display shipping costs in basket

hello,
Is it possable to display the total weight in the shopping basket.
example, as an item is added to the shopping basket the item weight would also be displayed.
I hope this is clear for all to understand.
Maybe if i tell you what it is i am selling!
My site sales traditional sweets. www.treasureislandsweets.co.uk
Most of the sweets are sold in 200gram bags. I have the weight of each product set up. As a bag of sweets is added to the basket the cost is displayed but can i also display the weight.
I ask this because sometimes customers order say 5 bags of sweets but the postage rate they have to pay is sometimes equal to 7 bags.
ie, they are paying for postal weight they dont use.

It is not possible to display the weight in the shopping cart. Sorry about that. I will add it to the wish list for you.

If the customer is 'paying for postage they don't use' then is this not an issue of having the shipping tables set up incorrectly. I'm not sure how displaying the shipping weight in the cart will help with this.
