Shipping problem - please help

I have no idea if this is possible but I really hope that someone can help.
Here's the problem:
One section of my clients catalogue requires all products to go out at a flat rate of £1.50 regardless of the numbers ordered whilst the remainder of the catalogue needs to go out by weight.
Is there any way at all to do this?
Any help gratefully received!

Just give all your products that are going out with the flat rate a weight of 0.001kg. Then make sure all your other products have a weight of around 0.050kg or higher.

Then you can set up a flat shipping rate that charges £1.50, but only allows a maximum of, say, 0.049kg. Anything over that goes out via the standard weight-based shipping.
