changing templates

Last year we made a comment on our index page and sitemap

"2003 collection now showing"

The girl who was helping is in another job- so it's left to me

I have opened index.html & sitemap.html in the notepad

Changed the comment to 2004

SAVED it

and it totally ignores me !

bad enough my kids ignoring me but a computer

I know there must be a simple answer -please give it to me

Hi Hilary,

Have you reuploaded the pages on your server ?

If you want to change it site wide you may want to modify it in the actinic Act_Primary and Act_brochurePrimary.

Yes - you need to edit the templates rather than the generated pages.

The overall layout templates (Act_Primary, Act_BrochurePrimary)are the ones that control the main branding and navigation that go around the products and sections.

You should read through the Designing With Actinic Developer Guide as this will give you an introduction to designing with Actinic.

Use Windows "Search" facility to locate all the files containing "2003 collection now showing" in your Site1 folder. The files that are templates (which is where you should be making the changes) will have names beginning with "Act_". That should show you where to tinker.

Actually I've tried that before...
Templates are

Act_index.html
Act_sitemap.html
Act_info.html

But when I go into them- the comment is not there....

Any more ideas please

Only Act_Sitemap.html exists on my system. I'm not sure where you're getting those other files from.

Could you post a URL so we can see?

Also if you go to Design / Options / Misc. and uncheck Compact HTML/CGI. Now you can Preview a page and in Internet Explorer do View / Source.

When you do that you'll see a very informative list of wich template produces which bits of the site. Search that source for your mystery phrase and you will see exactly where it's coming from.

Don't forget to re-check Compact HTML/CGI afterwards as it makes your site load much faster.
