    Error testing with Netbanx

    Hello
    Can anyone help.

When using Actinic in test mode with Netbanx I gat an error message with Subject Header:
"PASSED REGISTRATION with notification error (actinic/MID-0000575)"

Asking Netbanx what this means they replied:
"A notification error means that there was a problem updating your
store when the payment went through - either our server couldn't
reach yours, or you returned a server error. Looking through our logs we can see that your server is returning
a "Bad Request" message. It is possible that your webserver is not configured properly to accept the POST method. You should contact your administrator to resolve this."

Contacting our hosting company they also do not know what is causing this error and I have not experienced it before even though I have made other Netbanx/Actinic installations using the same web server.

Any ideas how to correct the error?

    Many Thanks
    Regards
    Henry Pritchard (Company Director)

Did you see the receipt page after you were brought back from Netbanx?

Also, is an *.occ file created in your 'acatalog' folder? This is the file that contains the details of the payment authorisation.

One thing to try is changing the permissions of the files within your 'acatalog' folder to '777' (if you have a *nix server) as this will mean that the Perl scripts will have permission to create files within the 'acatalog' folder (i.e. create the authorisation).

      Dear cdicken

      Many thanks for your reply.

Yes we do see the final receipt page when brought back from Netbanx but do not see any files with extension .occ in the 'acatalog' folder. The server is a windows server and our hosting company tells me all permissions are set OK. They have also instructed their technicians to see if anything is wrong on the server - I still awaite their analysis.

However looking at other Actinic setups on the same type of server that are working OK in live mode I do not see any *.occ files here either.

While I am running this Netbanx setup in test mode Actinic is also set up on 2 machines, 1 to take orders and 1 to control design so has this anything to do with it?

The Netbanx reply to my query says:
"A notification error means that there was a problem updating your store when the payment went through - either our server couldn't reach yours, or you returned a server error.

Looking through our logs we can see that your server is returning
a "Bad Request" message. It is possible that your webserver is not configured properly to accept the POST method. You should contact your administrator to resolve this." [Other sites would be affected if there was a POST error and this is not the case]

My client was hoping to go live with the Netbanx setup 1st March but I dare not do this unless I know the error will not happen so any further help will be much appreciated.

No - it should not affect the operation of NetBanx.

With your other live stores, do the orders come down into the 'Pending Payment Service Provider' area of Actinic, or into the normal 'Pending' area?

I'm afraid I have no experience of setting up NetBanx so all I coan give you is a few diagnostic pointers. For more in depth support, you need to register an email support query at http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm as that team will be able to take a look at your server themselves.

          Hi Chris

With the other live stores the orders normally come down into the normal 'Pending' area unless there is a problem with Netbanx then it goes into the 'Pending Payment Service Provider' Area as expected.

I'll register for email support as suggested.

          Many Thanks.

              To Gavin

Yes. We at www.netwinner.co.uk are a web design and hosting company and in this instance we had to move the troubling setup from a Microsoft Windows 2003 web server to a Linux server and the problem went away.

We were unable to discover what was wrong on the Windows 2003 web server. The problem doesn't happen, however, on the Windows NT servers.

              I hope this helps.

Thanks for a very quick answer, we are already hosted on a unix server, we can get it to work but we have to turn off Actinic's SSL so only the credit card is encrypted by netbanx. We will find out the problem ( i hope), lol
