Still trying to resolve search options

    Greetings all,

I have just given up trying to make the built-in search function work.

Now I am wondering if I am allowed to run a third party search software on my actinic site. I know there are a lot of softwares on the market that would index and search built pages.

I know this route would be serious pain... any thoughts?

    TIA,

    Edward

I used to use whatuseek.com for my engine. It was easy. It should work well with Actinic pages. Don't use the free option, it will put ads on the pages. It was a low monthly charge.

        Thanks!

The Google search sounds interesting. Are you referring to the "Google Free web search with site search?"

        TIA,

        Edward

            Still chugging along

I found a good search engine at www.aleadsoft.com that would perform the necessary searches using the traditional chinese charset. Now I have to figure out how to implement the engine into the site.

This little engine uses java script to index the unicode pages. Does actinic use java script for search as well? Is there a guru out there who can shed some light on this for me? PLEASE?

I am on my 27th day of trial, and I really like various features of this software, but...

            HELP!

            Edward

I'm afraid I cannot give any advice on this as I have no experience with incorporating external search systems with Actinic sites (well, I set up 'Fluffy Search' once for a non-Actinic website - it did not seem that hard, but it was 4 years ago).
